     Thank you so much for helping us find a good home for our Ridgeback, Desi. When we adopted her from the pound we had no idea of her breed, and we soon discovered she had all the unique dynamism of the breed: athleticism, prowess, loyalty, territoriality, and huntress par excellence. Unfortunately, some of these characteristics were not conducive to our situation as owners and residents at a marina. Desi just could not adapt to all the new people coming and going! We immediately had several excellent adoption candidates upon posting, people who had an experience with and love of the breed. We dropped her off today, and were so pleased with her new home situation: five acres and miles of surrounding farms, and a loving family well versed in Ridgeback sensibilities! We have never gotten rid of a dog in all our years of dog ownership, and we were absolutely heart broken to part with Desi. We know we can trust the adoptive family to take excellent care of her, and they promised they were in it for the life of the dog. MOREOVER, we could not have done it without Rescue Me! I'm so happy we found this group as they put us in touch with a world of people who understand and cherish this very special breed of dog.

     We rescued one year old Maggie from a kill shelter and quickly realized our home with three small kids was not the right fit for her, or us. We decided to try to find her a forever home. We were overwhelmed with responses to Maggie and took our time with carefully finding her the perfect match of family. Today, after two months, she went home with an experienced Ridgeback owner who had suffered a loss of his own Ridgeback girl not too long ago. We were saddened to let Maggie go, but we were so excited about what the future will hold for her. We couldn't have done it without Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue Me and hope to one day in the future adopt one ourselves that will be the perfect fit for our family. Thanks Rescue Me!

I have taken several RR's that were posted on Rescue Me and found them wonderful homes with people who know and love this breed. It is a useful tool for many who don't know where to go for help in placing their pet in a safe and responsible home.

     I'm so happy that Rescue Me helped find Tuck a great home within a week of posting his picture! He had several interested adopters, and the couple that adopted him actually drove eight hours one way to come and meet him! We had several communications before they made the long trek to ensure he was everything they were looking for in a dog, and that they would be the perfect family for Tuck! I'm pretty sure it was love at first sight! Within an hour, they were heading home with Tuck in tow! The couple lives within walking distance of the ocean and near many hiking trails and beautiful forests/parks. They run every day, and hike for sport on weekends, and work from home - I can't think of a better fit for Tuck! We are now friends on Facebook, so I can see Tuck enjoying life with his new family! I would strongly recommend to anyone that needs to re-home a pet to try posting on Rescue Me before taking the animal to a shelter.

     We had been searching for a Rhodesian Ridgeback to rescue for several months. After seeing Clifford The Big Red Dog on your site, we decided this was the dog we were looking for. Clifford had been running loose and was placed in a kill shelter. He was rescued by 4Pawsofthe4States from that shelter and received vet care, and was placed in a foster home. We drove a long way to pick up Clifford. It was difficult for him to leave his foster family, but he did very well on the nine hour ride home. We have fallen in love with this wonderful dog. He is sweet, playful, and loves to run chasing squirrels, chipmunks, and, this morning, a deer. We have five acres in the country, mostly wooded and fenced so he is free to explore. He is very smart and is catching on quickly to new commands. He is exactly what we had hoped for. Thank you, Rescue Me.

     Max has been re-homed. He was rescued and found to be very thin, scared and in a very sad state. With the help of a lot of volunteers and caring folk, Rhodesian Ridgeback Rehab and Watershed in particular, who paid for his flight across Africa, he's now part of a lovely caring home. I would love to post a few pictures to show the amazing difference in Max, thanks to Rescue Me, Rhodesian Ridgeback Rehad, Watershed and everybody who shared his story and raised awareness. Amy Max's new mum said every time she looked that Max appeared. So your website works! Being in a different country from my father (who moved to an old age home) and Max meant that relying on international websites like these was the best way to get Max a new home.

     Jager went to a nice childless retired couple out in the country. He is impeccably trained so it's a perfect fit for a spry retired couple. They have two other females for him to play with. One is about 12 years old. The other is about his age. He is as big as both of the girls put together. He has a wonderful yard to play in and a new mommy who fusses dutifully over what he eats. She has said he is adjusting well and they have had no problems. I remember that someone once said to me as we began puppy classes with Jager years ago that taking the time to fully train your dog is like taking out a life insurance policy for your dog. The implication was that if your dog doesn't work out in your home, then he is much more adoptable if he is well trained. At the time, I scoffed at the message because MY dog was never going to be with anyone but me. We went all the way through advanced training (mostly because Jager enjoyed performing so much. He made it fun!) Long story short... We had a child and Jager cannot handle the unpredictability of small children. And admittedly, our child is naughty. Some say 'active'. Whatever. Rescue Me was instrumental in finding GOOD people to link up with. Ideas were shared. Connections were made. The results were that Jager was able to find a second chance and a new forever home!

     Buddy found a wonderful forever home with people who love and cherish him. They responded the first day to the post I placed on Rescue Me. We spoke on the phone several times and, since we were far from one another, we agreed to meet halfway to make the doggie exchange. All is good. I called them that evening to check on Buddy and his new Mom laughed and said that she was lying in bed watching a little TV and that Buddy was right there in the bed with her! I laughed out loud. Their daughter has three Ridgebacks, so Buddy now has not only a new forever home and family, but other Ridgebacks to play and frolic with. His new home is on three fenced acres near the beach and his owners take him walking on that beach. He has bonded with them and my heart is full of love and good wishes. I have also gained new friends during this adoption process. Rescue Me works! I received many, many requests, but I know I made the right choice for Buddy!

     I usually foster dogs from Animal Services, a high kill shelter in my area. This is how I met my George. George was on death row. He was on the waiting list to be euthanized. A few days before, Jessica, who works at the shelter, sent out an alarming list of dogs that were out of time and would certainly die, and urged us to help save a few. I visited the shelter and fell in love with George, he was a big boy, but he is so friendly and lovable, with a great personality. He is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with beautiful amber eyes and a silly smile. In addition to his goofy walk, he has a charming aura that makes everyone that meets him instantly fall in love with him I fostered him for a few months, and a week ago I was contacted by Jamie Lipman who had seen George on Rescue Me! and was interested in adopting him. We met and Jamie absolutely adored George. Last weekend I said bye to my handsome George but feel so enriched that I was able to give this wonderful boy, who was left to die and forgotten in hell, a second wonderful chance.

     I was able to get Pappi a home in 2 days. He left last night with a man who specifically wanted that breed and wants a companion both at home and at work. He came equipped with another amiable dog lover who knows training which eased the transition. Pappi went right into the crate for the trip home without our help I wouldn't know what I would have done.The new owner is willing to repay me for the shots and I will then donate this to the organization.
