Animal ID: 14-11-02-00273Brad (male)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My lovable puppy is looking a new loving home. His name is Brad and he is a year old half Rhodesian Ridgeback (African Lion Hound), half American Pit Bull Terrier weighing about 54 lbs. He is extremely gentle, affectionate, and playful. He is also potty trained, obedient and intelligent. He doesn't bark, although he'll whimper if left alone too long. That said; he's a pack animal so needs companionship. This is why he's looking for a new home. My wife and I are away too often. Even though he's so happy to see us when we come home I can tell he was miserable in the home alone waiting for us. He understands boundaries. Upstairs is off-limits ... (Read More)for him and he understands that. African Lion Hounds are too active and energetic to cage up so we don't crate him. Growing up we did keep him in the office at night but he's grown out of his youngster mischievousness. He's neutered and is current on all of his shots and heart-worm medication. He's a perfectly healthy puppy. His favorite toy is a short, knotted rope tied to end of a 6 ft leash. He loves chasing after the rope as the human swings it to and fro trying to keep it away. Brad is extraordinarily acrobatic and will attempt amazing feats of agility to catch that rope (including jumping off nearby fences or trees and even performing aerial twists and back flips!!) He's spoiled. I treat him like a kid, meaning, he's never outside alone for more than 30 minutes or so. He's in the house with the rest of the family until it's time for a walk or park playtime. I'd rather keep him than give him away to someone who will keep him chained up outside alone or caged in a crate. What Brad needs as a new home. 1. Dog loving human companions 2. Active household (like and house-spouse and toddlers or other friendly dogs) 3. His favorite toy (I will provide) 4. A fenced yard is nice but certainly not a deal-breaker if you can commit to frequent walks and occasional park playtime. He likes to chew... big time. He doesn't chew things like furniture, carpeting or walls, just things he can pick up and take back to his bed. So little items within reach like CDS, USB cables, remote controls and shoes could be vulnerable to this little guy, so you would need to 'doggy proof' your apartment until he learns what to chew and what not to chew. This means a bit of patience and understanding is a requirement. He does this only when he is locked in a room or at home too long. Some easy tips to help him with this would be providing him with plenty of exercise, having appropriate chew toys accessible and given lots of attention. Also he learns quickly so prompt yet gentle verbal corrections works like a charm. Brad and I visit the dog park in Springfield Virginia (7550 Reservation Dr.) every Sunday afternoon. If you are interested or know anyone who may be interested in meeting Brad, the dog park is a great way for Brad to show off is interpersonal skills. Spread the word. Reach out to me if you have any questions. (Less)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Young Adult

Look at my picture. That was last year. Things have changed. I'm powerful and big and possessed of a soft eye and open heart. I rest on my raised bed and watch time drift by. People come and go '| feeding, watering, cleaning, rubbing my back, petting my head. That's all good. But there's more. I know there has to be more. I'm a year older and wiser. I'm ready for more..
