Rainbow is a 4 year old spayed female Whippet/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She is a fast learner, energetic, loves to romp and run with other dogs, enjoys toys, treats and her favorite reward is a marrow bone. During her quiet times she is very affectionate and enjoys being petted and brushed. She is crate and potty trained and knows a few basic commands. Rainbow has spent the past 18 months being socialized with other dogs and has constant interaction with both men and women without issue. Rainbow shows potential for further training in agility, search and rescue, and canine freestyle. She is healthy, current on all vaccinations and ... (Read More)is on monthly heart-worm preventative. Her only special requirement is an organic diet as she is highly allergic to gluten. In the past she has only received holistic veterinary care however this is not a requirement for her adoption. Rainbow was apparently mistreated as a puppy, and was rescued at the age of 7 months by the Friends of Gonzales Animal Shelter. Sadly, Rainbow's owner passed away and she has been looked after by her friends at Doggy Day Out in Pflugerville and is a very well-adjusted dog with no signs of any behavioral issues remaining from her puppy days. She would do well in an active household, and with another dog. As a high energy dog, she needs active play at least three times a week in addition to daily walks. Freckles and her 7 pups were found in a kill shelter. They were taking into H4P Rescue and will be fostered till they are 6 wks old and ready to be on there own. Sissy is a female lab mix. She was left on the Wal-Mart parking lot about a year ago. We just could not leave her. She is in good health and weighs about 50 lbs now. She has been spayed and had all of her shots. Her yearly shots are due at the end of April. Sissy is an outside dog. She spends her days playing with Dakota, our Golden Retriever. This dog appeared before me pregnant. I have fed her until she had her pups and have placed the pups. I have tried to place her on E-Bay and the American Classifieds, but with no luck. She is a wonderful dog, but I have three already and she needs a home of her own. I am on SS and cannot afford to keep her longer than I need to place her. Please help us out on this one. Rhodesian Ridgeback Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a fierce hunter that also makes a loyal family pet. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are very smart and obedient with firm training. Rhodesian Ridgebacks do not like to be teased by children. Ridgebacks need to be thoroughly socialized with other pets and humans, and may be dog aggressive. Ridgebacks can live in an apartment but these dogs are very energetic and need lots of daily exercise. This is an excellent dog to take jogging.
