Our 7 1/2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback has been with us since he was 6 weeks. We have a 2 year old son and our dog recently bit my husband when he was trying to get a diaper away from him. I am afraid he can no longer be trusted in our home especially with our son. Please help. I think he has potential to be a good dog in the right environment but we need to do something today.

I LOVE this girl!! Clara is a 1-2 year old unknown mix. She is so sweet and would love to be a part of a family. She is fully vetted. Clara loves other dogs and does well with children too. She is leash trained and deserves a family! She is a good girl who is a quick learner too! She loves attention and hugs. Clara is so ready for a home and to be out of rescue!

|Rescue Me ID: 14-06-08-00094Kora (female)|
ALL ABOUT ME!!! Name: Kora Breed: Boxer/Rhodesian Ridgeback Estimated Birthdate: August 18th, 2011 Height: est 22 inches Weight: about 45 lbs Good with dogs? Very Few Good with men/women? yes House trained? doing well so far Leash trained? yes Must have fenced in yard? yes Foster home is: Dreamweaver Farms Pacolet SC Adoption fee: -$25 silver special adoption fee! Date into rescue: 11/27/11 Why am I with a rescue group? Kora was turned in to the Columbia shelter after their owner could no longer care for her. Kora is a sweet and gentle girl. She is very afraid of new people, noises and unfamiliar scenery; though she does warm up pretty quickly. Kora has not been exposed to many new things in her life, so a patient and understanding family will best fit her. Once she warms up to someone, she is highly affectionate and loves to give kisses and she turns into a big lap dog. Kora went into a foster home with one of the caregivers on Monday, October 14, 2013. Here is her update: Kora is doing very well, she is coming out of her shell and this is the happiest we have ever seen her. It took a solid 24 hours for her to loosen up, but her tail is no longer tucked and she is adjusting to home life nicely. She is coexisting very well with the cats and small dogs in the home, however she will do best in a home without other pets. She is ok to be around them for short, supervised periods of time but should never, ever be left alone with them.We are keeping up with her crate training and slowly teaching her to be house trained-- she is doing excellent with both. She loves to ride in cars and hang her head out the window. Kora is great on a leash, and enjoys a nice slow paced walk around the neighborhood. She does spook easily if startled by a loud vehicle, person or pet. She is slowly getting used to things and will one day be a social butterfly. Kora is no longer in a foster home, as she is an escape artist, and was clearing the 4 foot chain link fence. For her safety, she as returned to CPR. Her breed is based upon our staffs experience and knowledge, there have not been any professional opinions. (Less)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a fierce hunter that also makes a loyal family pet. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are very smart and obedient with firm training. Rhodesian Ridgebacks do not like to be teased by children. Ridgebacks need to be thoroughly socialized with other pets and humans, and may be dog aggressive. Ridgebacks can live in an apartment but these dogs are very energetic and need lots of daily exercise. This is an excellent dog to take jogging.
