Cleo is a beautiful 10 month old shepherd/rhodesian ridgeback mix. She's a sweet-tempered darling but is a bit shy; she's probably been abused and is cautious with strangers, especially men. But after a few minutes of gentle attention and soft murmurs, she snuggles in closely for much-desired affection. She;s going to be extreme loyal to her 'person/people'; she wants very much to trust and be taken care of. In a calm household, she will definitely blossom into a confident and friendly dog; she just needs patience and consistent TLC. Cody is a 12 year old pure bred Ridgeback. He is in excellent health with a slight case of dysplasia setting in that he takes a baby aspirin for. He is a very big dog. He weighs well over 100 lbs. He is red and has a liver nose. He is current on his shots with them due again in March but does need his toenails cut. I normally have them surgically cut and cauterized but have not had the extra time to get it scheduled. Therefore they are more like talons or bear claws ΔΌ His temperament is that of an old dog - likes to be loved on by adults, mainly women, but left alone for the most part. Loves his treats. That is the problem nowΑKmy baby is crawling all over the place, throwing balls, and is a maniac in her walker and he gets very defensive. I am now just trying to NEVER EVER leave her alone with him or even let her close enough to him that he could hurt her in defense. I really hope that you understand that this is really hard for me. I LOVE that dog. He is such a good protector and sweet sweet boy. I was very afraid of this happening and having to get rid of him but I hoped beyond hope that I could manage and I just can't. I feel like I'm just waiting on the disaster to happenΑK He needs a calm, loving home where he can live the rest of his life stress free with some walks and treats. Rhodesian Ridgeback Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a fierce hunter that also makes a loyal family pet. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are very smart and obedient with firm training. Rhodesian Ridgebacks do not like to be teased by children. Ridgebacks need to be thoroughly socialized with other pets and humans, and may be dog aggressive. Ridgebacks can live in an apartment but these dogs are very energetic and need lots of daily exercise. This is an excellent dog to take jogging.
